BREATHABLE
BREATHABLE

Breathable garment or fabric. The permeability indicated corresponds to the water vapour in grams that can evaporate from a surface of one square metre in 24 hours. The higher this figure, the more breathable the fabric.

UV
UV

Fabric protects against UV rays in accordance with EN 13758-2 and with a UV protection upper than 40 (UPF40+).

WATERPROOF
WATERPROOF

Waterproof garment or fabric. The figure shown corresponds to the fabric’s ability to withstand water pressure without allowing moisture to penetrate. The minimum standard is 1500 mm/m2.

WATER REPELLENT

Technologies and patented textiles
DUPONT™ - SORONA®

Fiber made from raw materials of plant origin, whose production is energy efficient and has low greenhouse gas emissions.

THINSULATE®

A synthetic fiber with thermal insulation properties.

COOLMAX
COOLMAX®

Ultra-breathable and very light fabric, ideal for all types of training. This technology identifies areas of heat and perspiration, providing optimum temperature and perspiration regulation through air circulation.

COOLPLUS
COOLPLUS®

Ideal for athletes! The fibre is cut in a special way to offer excellent breathability and the rapid evaporation of surface moisture. The garment does not stick to the skin, thus allowing longer exertion.

COTON SUPIMA
COTON SUPIMA®

Cotton, whose fibers are more long, soft and hard-wearing than other cotton fibers. Supima® is a registered trademark and a quality guarantee for fabric made with american Pima cotton.

LYCRA
LYCRA®

LYCRA® clothing is high in elasticity, allowing it to return to its original shape after stretching. This fabric also dries quickly.

TOPCOOL
TOPCOOL®

Thanks to their special surface, TopCool® polyester fibres absorb moisture perfectly and wick it quickly outward, where it can evaporate. The skin remains pleasantly dry and the body maintains a constant temperature.

CORDURA
CORDURA®

Polyamide that is ultra-resistant to abrasion.

Glossary
#
3 LAYERS SOFTSHELL

Fabric combining inner, mid and shell layers to provide various features like stretch ability, water resistance, wind breaking ability and insulation.

A
ANTI-PILLING

A finish that prevents fibres from separating and forming pills on the surface of a fabric. Used on fleeces to make them more resistant to washing.

B
BACKING

The application of a plastic film (PVC, Polyurethane [PU], acrylic, etc.) on the surface of the fabric to make it more waterproof.

BREATHABLE MEMBRANE

A film that make fabric waterproof while allowing water vapour (perspiration) to pass through. Examples: Goretex®, Thinsulate®, etc.

E
ELASTANE / SPANDEX (USA)

A generic term for yarns with superior elasticity and resistance to stretching. They allow clothing to better follow the movements of the body and maintain their original form and size for longer. Contributing to better freedom of movement, they are also hard-wearing, comfortable and crease resistant.

F
FRENCH TERRY

Fleece sweatshirt not brushed. Loop appearance on the inside and smooth outer surface. Light and fluid fit for a current look.

I
INTERLOCK

Refers to a double-sided knit fabric: one side jersey, the other in 1/1 rib. Thicker and heavier than jersey, it can be stretched across its width.

L
LYOCELL

An artificial cellulose fiber that offers increased resistance and provides a soft surface that feels like peach skin to the touch. Example: Tencel® (made from the cellulose found in wood pulp).

M
MICRO TWILL

Ultra-fine weave made of thin and flexible yarns that brings style to the material and movement to the garment.

MICROFIBER

Clothing made from microfibers to obtain a silky appearance, softness, comfort and breathability.

O
OXFORD

Apparently dotted fabric composed of small square motifs. Obtained using coloured yarns / different materials.

P
POLYAMIDE

A synthetic material made from resistant, flexible and relatively elastic yarns, easy-care.

POLYESTER

Resistant, synthetic yarn, flexible, crease resistant, easy-care.

A breathable fabric that promotes quick drying.

R
RING-SPUN COTTON

This yarn provides a smoother fabric surface and is softer to the touch. Clothing is more pleasant to wear and offers better printing quality.

RIP-STOP

Yarns and weft positioned squarely to prevent ripping.

S
SLUB COTTON

A fancy yarn with flash-shaped irregularities of thickness.

T
TWILL

The alternating crossing of warp and weft forms diagonals that accentuate the movement of the garment.

V

EN 471:2003+A1:2007 (now superseded by EN ISO 20471:2013)

This International Standard specifies requirements and test methods for protective clothing capable of signalling the user’s presence visually. This clothing is intended to provide conspicuity in hazardous situations under any light conditions by day and under illumination by vehicle headlights in the dark. Performance requirements include colour and retroreflection properties. Further, minimum areas and the configuration of he visible area are specified.
X = Classification of the applied area of fluorescent and retro reflective material Classes 1 to 3 (of which class 3 is the highest achievable class).
Y = Classification of the quality of the applied retro reflective material Level 1 and 2 (of which 2 is the best).
